Yammer Guide
This short guide will walk you through a few quick steps to updating your profile and maintaining a strong presence on Yammer. Specifically, what we want to focus on is:
- Making sure your current profile is up to date and contains relevant professional and personal information. (page 1)
- Engaging with colleagues to promote discussion around interesting and important industry and organizational topics. (page 3)
Getting started
Step one, Sign in to Yammer with your Novartis Oncology email and password.
Once you are signed in, you can edit your profile to add information so others can learn more about you, like your expertise, interests, experience, and a link to your LinkedIn profile.
Set and save your notification preferences, with options for frequency and type of notifications you can receive via email.
Step two, search available groups and conversations relevant to your position and interests. Within groups and conversations, you can collaborate across workstreams, discuss important industry and company news, and connect with like-minded individuals throughout the organization.
Tips for Using Yammer:
- Post regularly, as it enables you to both correlate with your social media presence brand and comment on news and current relevant events that are connected to the industry and business
- Interact on a regular basis by tagging specific people with @mentions, replying to other peoples’ posts, reposting content and liking posts
- Find your voice and push out content that relates to the presence you want
- Use keywords in your posts as it enables your content to be more searchable
- Share important and exciting organizational and industry news and announcements with colleagues
- Start conversations about ongoing and upcoming projects and seek feedback – you never know where a great idea will come from!
- Encourage colleagues, and especially junior team members, to contribute on channels and within communities through engagement
